A message from our Chairman
I think our Founders would have been pleasantly surprised had they realised in 1883 the nature of the Trust they were creating. Their focus on one of the main social issues of the day – providing a high quality academic education for girls to enable them to enter universities and the professions – has not only been faithfully delivered but has inspired further educational development in some of the most needy social areas.
It has been my delight to watch the development of this second part of our Group as it embraces city academies and education in some of the most deprived parts of the country. We feel that this move has built on the original vocation of the Trust and welcome the enormous energy that has been created through ULT.
At the heart of successful learning is a motivated student who possesses a desire to learn. What we strive to achieve is that, at the end of their time with us, our students will have achieved good academic results. It is equally important for them to have developed strong emotional, intellectual and moral values.
The great challenge for schools is to engage with the skills and character needed for employability and flexibility in an increasingly global economy. We seek to do this not only in the classroom but through the many other activities in our schools.
