Pupils at The Regis School have been inspired by a visit from a former pupil

Pupils at The Regis School have been inspired by a visit from former pupil and nationally acclaimed actor and director, Tim Crouch. GCSE pupils and their drama teacher were wowed by Tim’s extensive portfolio, his success underlining that pupils from Bognor Regis really can aspire and achieve.
‘It was great for them to learn about the experiences of such a diverse and successful practitioner. The class enjoyed hearing about his career journey from pupil at the school to his work as an actor, writer and director. They particularly enjoyed his descriptions of experiences touring his play ‘An Oak Tree’ in which he has performed with a range of famous actors (the twist being that they must meet Tim just an hour before the performance and that is when they are given the script)! This was an invaluable experience for the group and by the end of the session they had lots of questions that they wanted to ask. Very kindly, Tim also signed and donated several of his plays to the school’ (Jolie Bartley, drama teacher).
One pupil summed up the experience; ‘It was really great meeting Tim because he was from Bognor and he ‘made it’, proving that it doesn’t matter where you come from; you can be what you want to be through hard work and dedication’.
Tim Crouch, who is performing in a number of national and international plays this year, said that ‘It was great for me to consider what I would have wanted to hear from someone who makes their living doing what I desperately wanted to do when I was 15. It was a privilege to be invited to the Regis School - and what an amazing building it is’.
